you, you, you oughta know

v & i have been loving the increasingly 90s-inspired looks we've been seeing on our favorite celebs lately--who what wear has become a veritable shrine to the flannel/floral/fringe look, which couldn't make us happier.

so what is it that, just a decade later, sets our hearts a-flutter at the very sight of kirsten dunst in plaid or agyness deyn in high waisted shorts and oxfords?  nostalgia, we think.  fashion-wise, the 90s were the best time to be a kid, because what was in style was what kids are supposed to wear anyway.  we were so money, baby, and we didn't even know it.

summer camp and back-to-school are two of the biggest shopping excuses for kids (except christmas/hannukah, and who wants clothes then, anyway?).  when you think of summer camp, you think of jeans, oversized t's, flannel and hiking boots.  back-to-school is for preppy plaid, denim and intricate florals--all in deep reds, purples, greens and blues.

with our very own (and very last!) back-to-school just around the corner, v & i are wishing we could run to the mall and find a gap kids circa 1994 right there waiting for us, but alas, the 90s-love hasn't permeated mainstream culture just yet--we'll leave it up to you to decide whether that's a good thing.
