At 11:42 AM, a 5.8 earthquake hit Southern California. It was followed by several aftershocks, the largest of which were two at 3.2. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of such an experience, it felt like the ground was wiggling. That's not very eloquent, I know, but it's really the best description I can come up with. On the second floor of my office building, it wasn't a very intense shake, but it lasted for quite a long time. At least 10 seconds, for sure. I did the right thing and got under a door frame, don't worry! The windows were rattling, and the TV almost fell off its stand, though, so that should count for something. And I was shaking when it was over.
There are no reports yet of damage.
Congrats, LA, on holding up so well! Lets not push it though...
UPDATE: It was actually only a 5.4 on the Richter scale, but that's still classified as a "moderate" sized earthquake. And, there's a 1 in 20 chance that it's a foreshock to a bigger one! But it's more likely that there'll just be a bunch of smaller aftershocks in the next few days.

Also, Perez was one of the first to have reports about the quake. That's either kind of cool (power to the people, right?) or pathetic, I'm not sure which...
