tie dye!

v & i had a little tie dye party last weekend.  we took our tie dye kit over to the co op, where a bunch of people live, and everyone had a great time rubberbanding and dying and enjoying the wonderful (girly) colors we left all over their sidewalk.

we let the dyes soak in overnight, and went over on sunday morning to pick everything up.  we took it back to v's apartment, soaked, unrubberbanded, and soaked some more... there was SO MUCH DYE.  even with all the dye coming out, everything looked really vibrant and fun.  i called it an "orgy of color".

next, i took the stuff home and washed it (on cold) in the machine.  by the time i'd gotten everything out of the washer, it'd been about a 24 hour process... and was totally worth it!

postyawn.

"i went to the postsecret event on campus on tuesday."

...that sentence alone should give me some kind of usc street cred; i got there half an hour before the doors opened and an hour before the event was scheduled to start.  i sat in the 5th row (LEGIT), but i'm pretty sure all of bovard's 1250 seats were filled.

i'm sure lots of the people who went were interested in going because of all of the great testimonies they'd read on the postsecret blog. i'll be interested to see if frank warren, owner of the blog, includes any testimonies from attendees of the usc event.

i, for one, won't be sending one.  i didn't hate the presentation, or even dislike it, but it left me lukewarm.  frank's speech came off as very practiced, and postsecret--of all things--should be anything but.  there was a chance for students to tell their own secrets at the end of the evening, and not to sound like a heartless biotch, but most of them were soooo trite.  and then we suddenly ran out of time and the lights went on and i would have diiiied if i had told a secret... there was no validation, or appreciation of any kind.  it felt like so much had built up to the secret-sharing, but the whole atmospheric bubble burst the second the event ended.

i'm glad i went, because if i hadn't i would've felt like i'd missed out... but the presentation was anything but the life-changing experience i had expected it to be.

rose bowl flea market

v & i both went to the rose bowl flea market yesterday.  neither of us knew the other was going, and we randomly bumped into each other in the antique furniture section... best surprise ever.

i got these sweet shades, which is pretty exciting:

v was way more successful, though.  she got...

this cool purse--a vintage dooney and bourke:
this legit belt--great photo skills, v!:
and this prayer ring, which means something about a diamond in a lotus... or something:
the rose bowl flea market is held the second sunday of every month.  we both think you need a full 30 days to recover--it's overwhelming, but totally worth it!
