I've been feeling kind of listless lately. Maybe it's the heat, or maybe it's what I've termed the mid-summer slump (it's July and summer isn't exciting and new anymore, but school's still far enough away that you don't feel the urgency of having fun with your summer that's almost over). That's why I've decided to compile a list of some fun summer activities, to keep us all going. It's a little "things to do before summer's over," and a little "here's how to avoid watching yet another tivo'd episode of The Real World."
-read a book at the park, or just bring your ipod and lay in the sun. Don't forget your sunglasses!
-go to your local farmer's market
-have a picnic, and make sure it includes watermelon
-attend an outdoor yoga class (for people in LA, they have them daily in Runyon Canyon)
-find a rooftop pool, maybe even one with a swim up bar...
-eat ice cream in a cone (July is National Ice Cream Month, in case you didn't know!)
-wake up early and go for a walk (or a run, if you're feeling particularly motivated)
-have a water gun fight
-hula hoop
-play on a jungle gym or a tire swing
-go for a bike ride
-cut your own jean shorts (a word from the wise: always start longer and trim. I've ruined many a pair of jeans by unintentionally making them booty shorts)
-do something drastic: get a tattoo, dye your hair, get a piercing!
-make homemade lemonade (extra points for having a lemonade stand!)
-make a friendship bracelet and mail it to someone. or just keep it for yourself!
This is just the beginning of my super awesome summer ideas, folks. I'll keep 'em coming as I keep finding new ways to entertain myself.
